My team and I finished two great days in the studio!!
January 1, 2008
Hello -
and Happy New Year 2008!
I can't believe it's 2008 already, and I am sure that many of you reading this are thinking the same thing.
Where did the time go? I had a baby last year, so that is where most of my time went! As they say when you have a baby,
the hours go by slowly, but the days go by quickly. My son is almost one year old, and is doing very well. To my delight, he already enjoys music.
I suppose that is a given though as he is subject to my practicing and singing around the house all day. He likes to dance, clap his hands, and
sometimes even pound his hand against his stomach in time!! I have also expanded my repertoire to include "Oh, Susana", "She'll Be Coming 'Round the Mountain",
and "Old McDonald Had a Farm" among others.
At times it has been more challenging than I would have anticipated to care for a baby and to continue singing.
Yet, I have managed. I played four great gigs this year - two gigs at unWINEd, one at Cornelia Street, and one at Caffe Vivaldi.
I did not record this fall as I had originally planned, but have already started rehearsing and now plan on recording in February.
The material received a wonderful response from audiences at gigs during this past year. I appreciate the encouragement, and am excited to get the songs down and out to the world!!
This year, I also plan on dragging myself out of the 20th Century, technologically speaking. I will be videotaping some gigs to post videos on YouTube,
and will set up a profile on Myspace eventually. I also plan on sending out at least one MP3 to my mailing list soon. The only thing is that my husband
and I have to figure out how to do it first!! Unfortunately, my son is too young to have mastered the technology in order to teach us!!
As always, I am blessed to have the support of my husband and our families as I keep on keeping on in the entertainment business. This year, I add our
wonderful babysitters to that group.
In addition, I would like to especially thank my friends at this time, who year in and year out continue to show up to my gigs, and bring their friends,
spouses, boyfriends, girlfriends, bosses, etc. As my colleague Louise Rogers once said to her loyal friends, "There is a place in heaven for all of you."
Wishing you a wonderful 2008, Sarah

The Cornelia Street gig went very well and was a lot of fun!! Thanks
to Jon Sobel for inviting me to participate in his monthly Soul
of the Blues showcase. Here is a post from his blog:
Jazz singer Sarah DeLeo, a newcomer to the Cornelia St. stage, opened
the show with a set of blues-inflected jazz numbers including a
great, obscure Ella Fitzgerald tune called “Too Young To Have the
Blues (Too Young for the Blues).”

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of the release of The Nearness
of You.
Once again, the CD will be available starting today on CD Baby as
part of their $5 Special Sale. In addition, the CD will also be
available individually for $5. I hope you will take this opportunity
to pick up some new music at a below-iTunes cost for yourself or
for a friend or relative. Based on my experience last year, these
promotions will continue as long as there is demand. Please click here to go to my CD Baby page.
On the new recording front, I continue to work on both the music
and business aspects of my next project, toward the goal of recording
by year's end. I look forward to sharing this work with all of you
soon!!

I have recently become aware of radio stations on pandora.com
called "Sarah DeLeo Radio Station". These stations, created by pandora
users, are like personalized radio programs and feature tracks from
The Nearness of You in addition to tracks by other singers
of the same genre and similar feel. Originally, I found three such
stations, but quickly uncovered several more. I appreciate that
so many pandora users have thought of me when creating their radio
stations. Today, I am going to list three of these stations I have
had the opportunity to listen to. If you have created a "Sarah DeLeo
Radio Station" that is not listed here, please send me your link,
and I will listen to it and post it here. Thanks to robert388, peterjwillems,
and inneke5 respectively for creating the following stations:
Sarah DeLeo Radio Station A
Sarah DeLeo Radio Station B
Sarah DeLeo Radio Station C
(Also, thanks to everyone who has bookmarked me as one of their
favorite artists on pandora.com!!)

musicians through Moozikoo, and am excited to have this opportunity

Happy New Year 2007!! I wish you and your loved ones all the best
during the upcoming year.
I am looking forward to a very eventful year. My husband and
I are expecting our first child within the next few weeks. I will
be taking a few months off from performing and have tentatively
scheduled my first gig of 2007 for April 25th at Cornelia Street
as part of the Soul of the Blues monthly series. During the 1st
Quarter of this year I also plan on updating my web site to include
streaming music on the index and music pages, pictures on the
gallery page, and an updated mailing list page. Because so many
people find this site while they are surfing or via an internet
radio program, it is important for me to make this site a more
interesting web experience and to improve my web presence overall.
In the fall I plan on going back into the studio to record the
follow up album to The Nearness of You with a tentative
release date scheduled for early 2008.
I look forward to a busy and productive year personally and professionally.
Thanks to all of you for your continuing enthusiasm and support!!
Sarah

Thanks to everyone who bought The Nearness of You during
the holiday season as part of CD Baby's $5 Special Sale. I hope
you are enjoying this CD and the others you purchased through
this promotion.
Originally, I included The Nearness of You in the $5
Special Sale to mark the one-year anniversary of the CD release
in October 2006. Since then the response has been so overwhelming
that I have decided to continue with this promotion, as long as
there is interest. Thanks again for your support of independent
musicians!!!

entire inventory. Tower has sold out of its inventory of The
Nearness of You. Thanks to Matt Lavelle for keeping the CD

Hello friends - It seems hard to believe that just one year ago
I was booking studio time and arranging rehearsals for The
Nearness of You. It has been a great year. I have grown so
much as an artist and I have learned a lot about the business.
As a self-produced artist, it has been very satisfying to create
and present to the public a recording that reflects who I am and
the work I have done so far. I look forward to building upon this
wonderful experience and to working with talented, like-minded
musicians in 2006 and beyond.
I appreciate the thoughtful analysis given to the CD by many reviewers
and station program directors and DJs. Considering that this CD
was a self-produced debut vocal jazz CD released during the busy
4th Quarter, I appreciate the time and consideration given to
The Nearness of You even more. Tracks from the CD were
played on over one hundred broadcast and internet stations this
past fall (See link above).
Finally, I am honored that so many people have listened to the
CD, incorporated it into their own lives, and given the songs
meaning particular to their own experiences. This is the greatest
reward for me as a singer, because that is what singing is all
about!! Thanks again to everyone for their support and interest!!
Happy New Year 2006!!
